Is the audit really free? Do I need to sign up?
Yes, completely free — and no signup required for the Quick Audit. Just paste a URL and you'll get a full 60-point scorecard, action plan, and downloadable PDF in under 30 seconds. Sign up only if you want to save audits, set up recurring projects, and track changes over time.
What does "AEO" and "GEO" mean? Why should I care?
AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) is about getting cited inside AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude. GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the same idea for AI Overviews and generative search. As AI eats more of the search experience, ranking #1 on Google matters less if AI assistants don't mention you. RankStreet measures both classic SEO ranking signals and AEO/GEO citation readiness in a single audit.
How is the score calculated? Why does it differ from other tools?
We use a transparent section-based model. Each of 17 sections gets a 0-10 score based on its specific signals (e.g. PSI Mobile 50/100 → 5/10, Schema 2/7 types → 3/10). Sections are weighted by importance and aggregated into category scores (Content, Technical, Performance, Mobile) and a final 0-100. Sections with no data — like PSI when Google rate-limits — are excluded from the denominator so you're not penalized for missing data. You can see the exact breakdown in every audit.
What's included in Phase 1 right now?
Phase 1 (live today) is the Website Audit: 60+ checks across content, technical SEO, performance, mobile, schema, E-E-A-T, FAQ, AEO/GEO, targeted-keyword detection, Domain Authority via Open PageRank, PageSpeed Insights + Core Web Vitals, and a downloadable branded PDF. Keyword tracking, AEO/GEO monitoring, backlinks, and AI fix-suggestions are coming in Phase 2 and Phase 3.
Do I need to bring my own API keys?
For the public Quick Audit, no — everything works out of the box. For full features (high-quota PageSpeed, Domain Authority, AI recommendations), the admin configures the API keys once and they're shared with all users on the instance. Open PageRank is free with registration, PageSpeed has a generous free tier with optional Google API key for higher quota.
How is RankStreet different from Ahrefs, SEMrush, or Moz?
Those tools were built for the Google-ten-blue-links era. RankStreet is built for the AI-answer-first internet — every audit measures both classic SEO and AEO/GEO citation readiness. We also lead with action plans, not just data dumps: every issue comes with a one-line fix written like a senior consultant would say it, ordered by impact-on-score.
