A Free Website Audit in 30 Seconds: What to Check, What to Fix First

You typed "free website audit" into Google for a reason — something on your site isn't performing the way you want, and you need a clear answer for why. The good news: a modern audit takes 30 seconds, costs nothing, and tells you exactly which fix is worth doing first. Here's how to read one without getting lost in jargon.

What a website audit actually checks (in 2026)

An SEO audit used to mean "check for broken links and missing meta descriptions." That definition is ten years out of date. A modern audit covers four buckets:

RankStreet runs 60+ checks across all four buckets and rolls them into a single score out of 100, with a breakdown that tells you where the points were lost. Run a free audit on any URL — no signup, no email gate.

How to read the score

Don't obsess over the absolute number. Obsess over the section breakdown. A site can score 78/100 and still have one critical issue dragging everything down — fix that and you jump 10 points overnight.

The three fixes worth doing before anything else

If you only have an hour, do these three. They're the highest leverage things on most websites we've audited:

Fix 1 — Make the targeted keyword obvious

Your page should be obviously about one thing. RankStreet auto-detects your target keyword from the title and meta, then checks if it appears in the H1, the first H2, the body, and the FAQ. If it's missing from the H1, that's almost always your single biggest content miss.

How to fix: rewrite the H1 so it includes the same keyword you're using in the title. Don't stuff — just be explicit.

Fix 2 — Add FAQ schema

Two things happen when you wrap your existing FAQ section in FAQPage JSON-LD:

This is a 15-minute fix that often moves the AEO score by 15+ points on its own.

Fix 3 — Get LCP under 2.5 seconds

Largest Contentful Paint is the single performance metric Google cares about most. If your LCP is over 4 seconds — and on most sites the hero image is the culprit — you're losing rankings and conversions to that one issue.

How to fix: compress your hero image to WebP under 200 KB, set explicit width/height attributes, and lazy-load anything below the fold.

What not to do after your first audit

When DIY isn't enough

RankStreet is designed so you can audit, fix, and re-audit on your own. But if the audit reveals a tangle of technical issues, content gaps, or a site migration in your past — that's the point where a senior team saves you months of trial and error.

Digistreet Media has been running SEO and digital growth for brands across 13+ years and every major industry. If you'd rather hand the audit to a team that's seen every variant of every problem, that's the door to knock on.

Your next step (it's free)

Open RankStreet Quick Audit, paste in any URL, and you'll have a 60-point scorecard in under 30 seconds. No signup, no credit card, no email required. If you like the audit, create a free account to save projects and run scheduled re-audits.
